The 4-day tour "Treasures of Alto Alentejo" invites you to explore the rich historical, cultural, and scenic heritage of this unique region. From medieval castles such as those in Monsaraz and Estremoz, to picturesque villages and ancient churches, you will discover the essence of a land that breathes authenticity. Along the way, taste the wines from the Reguengos winery, be enchanted by the Arraiolos carpets, and visit iconic monuments such as the Ducal Palace of Vila Viçosa, in an experience that blends tradition, art, and genuine flavors.

PROGRAMME:


Day 1: S. Pedro do Corval | Reguengos de Monsaraz | Alqueva

Morning: Departure from the origin locations. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Begin the tour in S. Pedro do Corval, the largest pottery center on the Iberian Peninsula, with a guided visit to the Pottery Museum. Visit the town of Reguengos de Monsaraz, with a guided tour by a local guide. In the late afternoon, enjoy a 60-minute boat trip on Lake Alqueva, relaxing and appreciating the Alentejo landscapes.

Evening: Dinner and accommodation at a hotel.

 

Day 2: Vila Viçosa | Estremoz

Morning: Visit Vila Viçosa, known as the "Princess of Alentejo." Guided tour of the Ducal Palace and the Castle of Vila Viçosa. Walk through the historic center of the town. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Continue to Estremoz, famous for its tradition of figurative pottery, classified as Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO since 2017. Visit the historic center, ascend the Castle of Estremoz, and visit the Interpretation Center of the Estremoz Puppets.

Evening: Dinner and accommodation at a hotel.

 


Day 3: Portalegre | Marvão

Morning: Walking tour in Portalegre, including the Castle, the Cathedral, and the Municipal Market. Guided visit to the Tapestry Museum. Departure for Alegrete, one of the most charming villages in Upper Alentejo. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Continue to visit Marvão, a medieval village protected by walls, located in the Serra de São Mamede.

Evening: Dinner and accommodation.

 

Day 4: Arraiolos | Évora

Morning: Visit Arraiolos, known for its carpets. In Arraiolos, visit the Castle, which is uniquely built in a circular shape, and the Interpretation Center of the Arraiolos Carpet, with a guided tour by one of the center's experts. Continue to Évora, with a walking tour through the historic center, including free time to explore local shops and craft galleries. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Afternoon: Return to the origin locations.
